Calathea makoyana, commonly known as the Peacock Plant or Cathedral Windows, is a beautiful and popular tropical plant appreciated for its intricate foliage. It belongs to the Marantaceae family and is native to the rainforests of Brazil.

The Peacock Plant gets its name from the striking patterns on its leaves, which resemble the feathers of a peacock. The large, ovate leaves have a deep green color with a network of light green veins that radiate outwards, creating an eye-catching and intricate design. The undersides of the leaves are a rich purplish-red, adding to the plant's visual appeal.

Caring for Calathea makoyana requires providing it with the right conditions. It thrives in bright indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves. It is best to place it in a location with filtered or shaded light.

Maintaining a warm and humid environment is important for the Peacock Plant. It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and high humidity levels. Misting the foliage regularly or placing the pot on a pebble tray filled with water can help increase humidity.
